Terms of Service
Last Updated: January 29, 2026
Welcome to Sentinel
These Terms of Service govern your use of Sentinel, a compliance assessment platform built by Grant Teeple, Esq. (CA Bar #144760), founding partner of Teeple Hall, LLP.
By using our quizzes or submitting your email, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What Sentinel Is (and Isn't)
Sentinel is an educational tool.
Our compliance quizzes provide a preliminary assessment of potential gaps in your California business compliance. Think of it like a blood pressure screening at a pharmacy—it's useful, but it's not a full medical exam.
This is NOT legal advice.
Taking a quiz does not create an attorney-client relationship. The results are educational estimates based on your self-reported answers. They are not:
- A substitute for consulting an attorney
- A guarantee of your actual compliance status
- A comprehensive legal analysis of your business
- Verified against official Secretary of State records
If you schedule a consultation with Grant or another attorney at Teeple Hall, LLP and formally engage them, then you're receiving legal advice.
Your Responsibilities
When using Sentinel, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information – Garbage in, garbage out. If your quiz answers are incorrect, your results will be too
- Use the service legally – Don't hack, scrape, spam, or abuse the platform
- Keep your email secure – You're responsible for maintaining access to the email address you provide
- Not rely solely on quiz results – These are preliminary assessments, not final determinations
Intellectual Property
All content on Sentinel—including the quiz logic, scoring algorithms, design, and text—is owned by Grant Teeple and protected by copyright, trademark, and trade secret laws.
You may:
- Use the service for your own business assessment
- Share your results report with advisors (accountants, business partners, etc.)
You may NOT:
- Copy, reverse-engineer, or reproduce our quiz methodology
- Resell or white-label the service
- Scrape data or use automated tools to access the platform
Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
Read this section carefully. It limits our liability.
No Warranties
Sentinel is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that:
- The quiz results are 100% accurate for your specific situation
- The service will be error-free or uninterrupted
- Identified compliance gaps are the only issues your business has
- Following the recommendations will prevent all legal problems
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grant Teeple and Teeple Hall, LLP are not liable for any damages arising from your use of Sentinel.
This includes:
- Fines or penalties from California agencies
- Business suspension or legal disputes
- Lost profits or business opportunities
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind (even if we were warned they might happen)
If you are held liable for compliance violations, that liability is yours, not ours—unless you've formally engaged us as your attorney.
California-Specific Compliance
Our quizzes focus exclusively on California business compliance issues. If your business operates in multiple states, you'll need to assess compliance requirements for those states separately.
California laws change frequently. While we strive to keep our assessments current, we can't guarantee that every quiz question reflects the absolute latest regulatory updates.
Third-Party Services
Sentinel uses third-party services including:
- Calendly – For scheduling consultations
- Google Analytics and Meta Pixel – For tracking site performance
- Supabase – For data storage
- Resend – For email delivery
We're not responsible for how these third parties operate. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Account Termination
We reserve the right to:
- Suspend or terminate access to Sentinel for any reason
- Refuse service to anyone
- Remove or disable quiz submissions that violate these terms (e.g., fake emails, spam, abusive content)
You can terminate your relationship with us anytime by unsubscribing from emails or requesting data deletion at info@compliantco.com.
Payment Terms (If Applicable)
Our compliance quizzes are currently free. If we introduce paid services in the future (e.g., premium reports, legal consultations), we'll clearly disclose pricing before you're charged.
Legal services provided by attorneys at Teeple Hall, LLP (separate from the quiz) are governed by separate engagement letters with their own payment terms.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Grant Teeple, Teeple Hall, LLP, and their employees from any claims, damages, or expenses (including attorney fees) arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any law or regulation
- Your use (or misuse) of the quiz results
Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from your use of Sentinel will be resolved through binding arbitration in San Diego County, California, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association—except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property violations.
You waive your right to participate in class actions or class arbitrations.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as our service evolves. If we make material changes, we'll notify active users via email. Continued use of Sentinel after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. We recommend reviewing these Terms periodically.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remain in full effect. Unenforceable provisions will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make them valid.
